Welcoming Lengtentima (Lententime/Spring) - 2017

‘First Leaves’
By Fyodor Tyutchev

The youthful leaf is greening,
See how the birches swaying
With youthful leaves stand tall,
Their gossamer green translucent,
Pellucid, transparent, like smoke.

Long were they dreaming of spring,
Of spring and golden summer,
And now these vivid dreams
Burst sudden into light
Beneath the first blue sky.

O beauty of first leaves,
Bathed in the rays of the sun,
With their shadows newly born!
Their movements let us know
That in this myriad darkness
Not one dead leaf exists.
