This is what political victory costs Southerners in Virginia:  The election of folks who speak a foreign dialect and focus on Yankee ideas:  Gov Youngkin touts his ‘business-like execution’, contrary to the relaxed Southern approach; Lt Gov Sears is an ex-Marine Amazonian woman, the kind that Rev Dabney mocked in his writings, who furthermore glorifies the New England ‘City on a Hill’ concept that gives life to the egotistical, snobbish, messianic attitude of ‘American exceptionalism’.  Money-making is the end goal of these folks; Christianity hardly registers other than a one-liner that so-and-so attends such-and-such church.

We’re glad Virginia didn’t roll over and re-elect Gov McAuliffe, but these trends don’t look all that good for reversing the genocide of Southern culture in Virginia, the Mother of all the Southern States.

Stories from the Southland and elsewhere detailing some of the recent ups and downs in this battle.

I.  State Attorneys General Interpose

Just as Jefferson’s Kentucky Resolutions and Madison’s Virginia Resolution recommend:

 

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) — Eighteen states filed three separate lawsuits Friday to stop President Joe Biden’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate for federal contractors, arguing that the requirement violates federal law.

 

Attorneys general from Alaska, Arkansas, Iowa, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming signed on to one lawsuit, which was filed in a federal district court in Missouri. Another group of states including Georgia, Alabama, Idaho, Kansas, South Carolina, Utah and West Virginia filed a lawsuit in federal district court in Georgia.

 

Texas also sued individually on Friday.

II.  A State Legislature Finally Gets It Right with COVID

Tennessee shows the right way forward.  Some provisions of the bill passed by her State Legislature:

 

--All governmental and private entities would be barred from requiring proof of having taken COVID shots. They also couldn't take adverse actions or deny employment based on vaccination status. In other words, Tennessee is applying existing anti-discrimination law that is rigorously enforced in every other realm to the issue and time where it is needed most. The only exceptions are those who are signed on as federal contractors and have already signed their lives away to the federal government.

--Authorizes unemployment benefits for those who quit their jobs due to any requirement.

--Provides a cause of action for anyone injured by the vaccine as a result of an employer asking the individual to receive it.

--Except in a few circumstances, this bill completely bars any local governmental entity or schools from requiring someone to wear a mask or taking adverse action against people for not covering their faces. Anyone injured as a result of a mask mandate can sue in court. Masks can be required under "severe conditions," but just for 14 days, and medical exemptions must be accepted. The original House bill also banned even private entities from implanting a mandate, but the Senate took it out.

Will other States that have blustered about their commitment to liberty in the past have the courage to follow suit?

III.  Challenging Woke Corporate Power

As this is coming from Sen Marco Rubio, who is more Establishment Republican than populist disrupter, hopefully it is a sign that ideas like this will soon become an integral part of the Republican Party’s platform.  Here is a little of what he had to say earlier at a gathering of conservatives in Orlando:

 

First, that means getting wokeness out of the boardroom. At a minimum, we should require that the leadership of large companies be subject to strict scrutiny and legal liability when they abuse their corporate privilege by pushing wasteful, anti-American nonsense.

 

For example, we can use the current “shareholder primacy” argument against these companies. Right now, the burden is on the shareholder to prove these woke, anti-American stances—like boycotting a state for governing its own election laws—are bad for shareholders. Instead, we should place the burden on the company to prove it is acting in the best interest of shareholders.

For all the good things taking place in the States – revolts against corrupt school boards, governors and State legislatures trying to guard their fellow citizens against federal vaccine mandates, a labor uprising against Amazon – there is an elephant in the room that threatens to crush them in the dust unless it is addressed.

That five-ton mammal is religious freedom, and it showed the destruction it is capable just recently in Pennsylvania:

MEDIA, Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- A local Satanic organization has convinced a school district in Delaware County that its dress code was discriminatory against Satanists.

Joseph Rose, the founder of a local organization called Satanic Delco, says fellow Satanists with children attending schools within the Rose Tree Media School District made him aware of the verbiage in the dress code banning any clothing or gear that are "satanic in nature."

"The idea that a public school would allow religious expression in school, but choose to single out and prohibit the expression of one specific religion obviously seemed like a problem for us," Rose said.

It took about a month of consistent emails and phone calls to the district before the superintendent sent out an announcement reading in part "... Although we have had no complaints or concerns brought forward by any student, parent, or resident we will remove this language from our current dress code information in the student handbook."

For more than 200 years, folks in the States have been under the illusion that Christians would be better off without any special recognition by the various centers of governmental power – whether local, State, or federal.  Events like the one mentioned just above (which are becoming more prevalent) prove how wrong we have been.  Christians/Conservatives/Revivalists are being seriously out-maneuvered by men with bad intentions, and it will cost us dearly (both the souls of our descendants and the decline of the broader physical culture) in the future if we don’t do something about it now.

The only way we can stave off the coming societal disaster is to amend Louisiana’s Constitution to declare in some manner that Christianity is the underlying religious foundation of our State, and that anything that runs counter to its traditional historical beliefs – like Satanic clothing in children’s schools – should not be allowed.

Some will chafe at this, seeing it as a betrayal of a loyalty to abstract freedoms . . .

Mike Adams’s Hopes for a Post-COVID Resurrection of Mankind

 

We have benefited from the articles of Mike Adams and his fellow-workers at the Natural News web site.  And he seems like a nice enough man when hosting various shows and podcasts.  He is even a farmer here in occupied Dixieland.  So when he posted a podcast about the crucifixion of the world (alluding to the present COVID trauma) and its resurrection, we were intrigued.  But it did not turn out well; there were a number of troublesome ideas expressed in it.

We will begin with his main point, that mankind is being crucified like Christ, except that spike proteins and vaccine needles are piercing our flesh instead of nails and a virus corona tears at our head instead of a crown of thorns.  Because the divine Christ died and rose again, Mr Adams said, mankind too, being divine, will rise from the metaphorical grave of our suffering and experience ‘resurrection’, that is, a higher state of enlightenment or being, an awakening.

The problem with this is that mankind is not automatically resurrected from sufferings and death because he is not divine.  The innate divinity of man is the teaching of the heresy of Gnosticism.  Man can become divine, is in fact called by the Holy Trinity to become a god by Grace, but this only happens through the sacramental and ascetical life of the Orthodox Church, through baptism, through sacrificial self-emptying and love for the sake of others and the creation, etc.  Through these means, we are united to Christ the God-man, through Whom we receive new life and true resurrection. 

Furthermore, there have been many other events in which mankind suffered far worse than the COVID illness, yet after them he did not receive brilliant new enlightenments:  the devastating plague in the 6^th century A.D. was followed up by the advent of Islam.  The West has seen a continual train of devastating wars from the French Revolution, to the War between the States, WWI, WWII, the Cold War, and the War on Terror with no ‘mass awakening’ following any of them.  China has received no blessings of resurrection following Mao’s revolution.  Why will this lesser suffering be so different from those greater sufferings in its effect upon mankind?

We will only receive blessings from sufferings if we accept the latter gladly from God as something we deserve for our sinfulness, as an opportunity for repentance, as a means by which we can draw closer to God and one another.  They do not flow automatically from sufferings like some sort of unalterable mathematical formula.

Mr Adams also made the assertion that God creates because He is bored, and that it is necessary for Him to create an infinite number of universes to alleviate fully that boredom.

But God could never be bored; if He is not completely self-sufficient in the infinite depths of His own Being, then He isn’t God.  The notion of infinite universes is a form of pantheism, endowing the creation with the attribute of divinity (i.e., infinity) they have stripped from their idea of God.  God creates the universe and mankind out of the overflowing of His Love (St Gregory the Theologian speaks of this), which He desires to share with other creatures made in His image who will love Him in return of their own free will.

Also mentioned approvingly by Mr Adams is the idea that life is a simulation.  But if life is a simulation, an illusion, then nothing has any meaning or value – neither suffering, nor resurrection, nor advances in scientific or spiritual enlightenment.  If the cosmos can be reshaped by one’s mental powers, then nothing has any definitive, objective existence:  Everything is relative; there can be no agreement on what constitutes human advances or declines, virtues or vices, if a dog is really dog, etc.  (Thanks to Jay Dyer for this insight.)

Life is not a simulation; every created thing has an unchanging ontological root in the logos given to it by Christ the Logos, in Whom all the logoi are united and in Whom they find their ultimate meaning and purpose for existing.  St Maximus the Confessor is one to consult more on this subject.

Finally, we will mention Mr Adams’s friendly embrace of ETs with whom he believes mankind will be united in friendship in the future age of enlightenment that is coming after the COVID debacle.  In short, space aliens are demons in another guise.  But since this is something we have written about before, we will let those earlier posts speak for themselves rather than repeating ourselves.  Here are a couple of them:

We do appreciate Mr Adams’s good work in other fields, but we hope he and those who heard the podcast referred to above will take the time to get grounded in the teachings of the Holy Fathers of the Orthodox Church, whose views about God, man, and the cosmos give us the clearest picture of, and the only sure path to reach and experience, reality.
