The Wrong Way to Restart an Economy . . .


With war.

Pres Roosevelt goaded Japan into war to get the States out of the Great Depression.  It appears that Pres Trump and his administration are mulling the same kind of idea.  Mention of belligerence, especially towards China, Iran, and Venezuela, has been made in several places recently.

The most alarming is the remaking of the uS Marine Corps into what amounts to a single-minded, China-killing branch of the military:


But the other developments are just as unsettling:








China seems to be having similar thoughts vis-à-vis Taiwan:


Such a thing shouldn’t come as much of a shock to anyone, though:  One bad policy (total societal shutdown over COVID-19) begets another.
