St Samson,
born in splendid wealth,
Chose instead
liberating poverty,
And the Holy
Gospel to heathens did he tell
As he journeyed
from Wales unto Brittany.
Modern man,
groaning under greater riches,
Forsakes the
Christian Faith and all its ways,
And obeys each
of his unsettling itches
In search of
heavier golden chains.
