The Return of Col Allen West

Years after being ousted from his Florida seat in the [u.] S. House of Representatives, Mr West, the make-believe conservative and Southern interloper, has found himself a new home in Texas.  Like all good interlopers, Mr West has to try to ingratiate himself with his new neighbors, since he has no roots among them.  Hence a new book about his ‘deep convictions’ about Texas:

What is most interesting about his recent time outside of politics is his becoming a big-time bankster in his new State, not the most reassuring role for a supposedly staunch conservative:

Even worse than that, Amegy Bank is owned by Zions Bancorporation, which has very close ties to the Mormons:

Now that Mr West has decided to seek another congressional seat, it will be interesting to see if the Religious Right and other so-called conservatives take notice of any of these disturbing connections, or if they will simply overlook them in favor of his war veteran, Tea Party patriot façade:

“We miss you so much in Congress, Allen. Are you ever going to run again?” asked guest host Monica Crowley.

“Yes, Monica. You’re probably going to see me get back in there after this election cycle. So a lot of people are pressuring me to do that, a lot of folks in Texas encouraging me to do that so we will probably make that happen,” Mr. West replied.
