The South’s Icy Welcome in Washington City

Passing by 305-113, which includes 72 Republican yeas and 13 cowardly Republican no votes:

To direct the Architect of the U.S. Capitol to replace the bust of Roger Brooke Taney with a bust of Thurgood Marshall, to remove certain statues from areas of the Capitol which are accessible to the public, to remove all statues of individuals who voluntarily served Confederate States of America displayed in Capitol.

The AOC [Architect of the Capitol] must remove the statues of Charles Brantley Aycock, John Caldwell Calhoun, and James Paul Clarke from areas of the Capitol accessible to the public.

Southerners are clearly second-class citizens in the eyes of the Capitol’s oligarchs.  Would someone, then, please tell us why we should stay in the Glorious Union any longer?

Holy Ælfred the Great, King of England, South Patron, pray for us sinners at the Souð, unworthy though we are!

Anathema to the Union!
