wealthy Spanish civil servant who lived in New Orleans during Spanish rule of Louisiana. He gave very generously to rebuild the city
after the Great Fire of 1788. Two of his
notable benefactions are what would become Charity Hospital and the St Louis
Cathedral in which he is buried.
