Football Returns; Tyrants Rejoice

There's no telling what the Elite will try to get away with now that tens of millions of people are once more hypnotized by football, professional or otherwise.

The Roots of Southern Culture: Illuminated Manuscripts

When Our Lord God the Holy Spirit was living and active among our ancestors on the British and Irish Isles, illuminated manuscripts were among the works of beauty they produced.  If we repent as our ancestors did, then, and only then, can we expect the beautiful to manifest itself among us once more in numerous and various ways.

These few pictures (via Wikipedia) are from only one such manuscript, The Book of Kells:

A Saint Worthy of Notice by the South: St Myron the Wonderworker

A farmer who became a saint:

Saint Myron, Bishop of Crete, a wonderworker, in his youth was a family man, and worked as a farmer. He was known for his goodness, and he assisted everyone who turned to him for help. Once, thieves burst in upon his threshing floor, and St Myron himself helped them lift a sack of grain upon their shoulders. By his generosity the saint so shamed the thieves, that in future they began to lead honorable lives.

Out of profound respect for the saint, the Cretan people urged him to accept ordination to the priesthood in his native city of Raucia, and afterwards they chose him Bishop of Crete.

Wisely ruling his flock, St Myron received from the Lord the gift of wonderworking. At the time of a flood on the River Triton, the saint stopped its flow and went upon it as upon dry land, and then he sent a man back to the river with his staff to command the river to resume its course. St Myron fell asleep in the Lord at the age of 100, around the year 350.

Farmers and gardeners, here is a good patron for you all!

The U.S. Gov't Is Funding al-Qaeda

This should not come as any great surprise, for that very government also created al-Qaeda.  From Infowars.com:

The next time Obama and the federal government tell you about the noble cause of our brave soldiers fighting on the side of freedom and democracy in Afghanistan, remember this: you’re not only paying for military action against terrorists (under the Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Terrorists passed by Congress), but you’re also doling out money to the terrorists, viz al-Qaeda and the Taliban.

Earlier this week, John Sopko, the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction, complained about it. “I am deeply troubled that the U.S. military can pursue, attack, and even kill terrorists and their supporters, but that some in the U.S. government believe we cannot prevent these same people from receiving a government contract,” Sopko said in a letter accompanying a quarterly report to Congress.

. . . In addition to the CIA and the Pentagon providing sophisticated armaments to the Taliban during the engineered war against the Soviets in Afghanistan – shoulder-fired Stinger antiaircraft missiles, delayed timing devices for tons of C-4 plastic explosives, wire-guided anti-tank missiles, extensive satellite reconnaissance data of Soviet targets, military intelligence, and a “ceaseless stream” of arms (see Phil Gasper, Afghanistan, the CIA, bin Laden, and the Taliban) – the group later known as al-Qaeda recruited, with the assistance of the CIA and Pakistan’s ISI, tens of thousands of “Afghan-Arab” fighters. Many of them would eventually end up in Guantánamo or on the receiving end of drone delivered Hellfire missiles.

This forbidden history is never mentioned by the corporate media when it “reports” on the “war on terror” and the tenacious presence of al-Qaeda and the Taliban, perennial enemies that will go on fighting (with U.S. taxpayer largess) for the indeterminable future.

Curing Cancer Naturally

There are alternatives to the medical-industrial complex's chemical/radiation torture regimen for treating cancer, and they fit quite nicely into the Southern way of living - i.e., derived from plant and animal sources.  For example, from Dr Mercola:

'Without a doubt the most powerful essential strategy I know of to treat cancer is to starve the cells by depriving them of their food source. Unlike your body cells, which can burn carbs or fat for fuel, cancer cells have lost that metabolic flexibility. Dr. Otto Warburg was actually given a Nobel Prize over 75 years ago for figuring this out but virtually no oncologist actually uses this information.'

The carb-free diet he refers to is detailed elsewhere (e.g., here and here).

Another treatment option is the Gerson Therapy, described by the Gerson Institute as follows:

'The Gerson Therapy is a powerful, natural treatment that boosts your body's own immune system to heal cancer, arthritis, heart disease, allergies, and many other degenerative diseases. One aspect of the Gerson Therapy that sets it apart from most other treatment methods is its all-encompassing nature.

'An abundance of nutrients from thirteen fresh, organic juices are consumed every day, providing your body with a superdose of enzymes, minerals and nutrients. These substances then break down diseased tissue in the body, while enemas aid in eliminating the lifelong buildup of toxins from the liver. With its whole-body approach to healing, the Gerson Therapy naturally reactivates your body's magnificent ability to heal itself - with no damaging side-effects.'

One other plant-based option, per Margaret Durst: Essiac.

The article referenced in the opening paragraph also offers several cancer prevention strategies, which will hopefully help us all to avoid the need for any cancer treatment.

Be neighborly, now, and share the good news with your family and friends.

America: The Next Soviet Nation?

A post at LRC made the following comparison between the current American Empire and the old Soviet Union:

'How shamed we should be of the sociopaths in office as they take up where Russia left off in the police-state.'

One is reminded of a prophecy by Elder Ignaty of Harbin from the early 20th century:  'What began in Russia, will end in America.'

Was the Elder foreseeing a godless collectivistic society, based on the pattern of the brutal Soviet government, rising here in the States?  It is certainly possible, given what we are now witnessing here:  the dying Christian faith, a vast government spying apparatus, a rapidly expanding federal police force for the homeland, millions of spiritually starved people who look to the government to give meaning to their lives as well as to put food in their stomachs, and a ruling Elite that is arrogant enough to believe that it can provide both to the masses.

This being so, the words that Father Andrew Phillips wrote of England and Europe are just as important for us in the South and the other States to heed:

'The victory of the old culture of believing Tradition, however unlikely it may seem, is possible, but only if Europe refers back to its spiritual roots. This is why we Orthodox are being called on to gather together not only the faithful remnants among the peoples of Europe, but also to gather together the saints of Old Europe, who were faithful to Orthodoxy, so that they may intercede for Europe and for us. However, little time remains, for, as prophesied, all around are ‘treason and cowardice and deceit’.'

Gather together the saints of your forefathers, Southerner, and fervently entreat them to pray for us, their descendants in the South, lest it go very ill indeed for us.

A Canker Sore on the South

McDonald's, that is.  Few things epitomize the chemical-laced, genetically modified, overly processed, nutrient deficient, 'food-like substances' (thanks to John Medaille for the phrase) of the modern world better than this 'corporate neighbor' (Wendell Berry).  How wonderful would it be, then, to wake one morning and read a story about the South similar to this one about Bolivia:

'In some parts of the world, good food is food prepared with care, attention, and a plenty of time. This sort of food philosophy, where meals are made with fresh ingredients and patience, doesn’t lend itself well to fast food where cheap ingredients are premade so they can be warmed and slapped together in record-time. This sort of food dichotomy is exactly why McDonald’s couldn’t thrive in Bolivia—the first Latin America country to essentially kick the fast-food-giant out by keeping them in the red.'

Traditional Southerners certainly share with Bolivia the same philosophy about food and cooking recounted in this story.  We will know we are making progress toward a true and lasting freedom (cultural and otherwise) when the wrecking ball takes aim at those degrading Golden Arches.
